An official said that a 35-year-old woman fell unconscious after unknown persons sprayed on her and instantly chopped off her braid at around 6.30 am. He said that a local police party immediately rushed to the spot.
This is the first braid cutting incident reported from Khrew.Police said they have lodged an FIR and are looking into the matter.
“Everyone here is in a shock. There is fear among people especially women. The government should take immediate steps to ensure our safety and dignity,” said Rukiya Hassan, a local resident.
The police however have so far been clueless about dozens of hair cutting incidents being reported on a daily basis from different parts of Kashmir.
